Position Title: Assistant Principal
Contact Length: 195 days
Reports to: School Principal/Superintendent
I. Professional Leadership
A. Will strive to build positive relationships with the school and community.
B. Participates in committee structure to develop educational strategies for the school.
C. Will be punctual and regular in attendance.
D. Will follow school board policy and administrative procedures.
E. Will adhere to the state professional Code of Ethics.
F. Will maintain confidentiality when dealing with students and records.
G. Will use technology appropriately.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Interacts with students to encourage each individual to perform at their highest level
B. Assist with the management of all building staff personnel
C. Assist with the completion of performance evaluation on all staff
D. Provides general supervision to students.
E. Supervises extra curricular activities.
F. Assist with the Evaluation of all programs
G. Provides in-service training to teachers and staff as needed.
H. Other duties that may be assigned.
III. Performance Responsibilities:
- Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s CSIP
- Ensures that the school’s strategic improvement plan supports the goals, objectives, and strategies of the district’s CSIP
- Ensures that the Kentucky Program of Studies and Core Content for Assessment are the foundation of instruction in all content areas
- Works with teachers in the development of daily, weekly, and unit lesson plans
- Works with teachers in assessing problem areas in curriculum and instruction and in finding and implementing appropriate solutions
- Introduces teachers to new methods, materials, and instructional strategies that, through research, have proven to increase student achievement
- Coordinates and conducts staff development
- Models best instructional practices through actual classroom demonstrations
- Uses technology to disaggregate test data to inform and grade curricular and instructional program improvement on a school, class, and individual student level
- Assists teachers in incorporating the use of technology into the instructional program
IV. Qualification Requirements:
A. Persons in this position must meet current certification requirementsdetermined by the Kentucky Department of Education
B. Must complete required professional development and leadership training. |
